Mark Sample came to Korea in 2008 to experience teaching English as a foreign language. A graduate of Journalism from the University of Leeds, Mark spent his first year teaching young learners at an academy in rural Gimhae. For the past 8 years he has lived and worked in Seoul; firstly at K12 International School as a homeroom teacher, secondly in the Gangnam public-school system and finally since 2013 lecturing at the university level. Mark has taught in the English departments of Chungang University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and he currently works in the Hanyang TESOL department where he trains both native and non-native English teachers. During this time, Mark completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Nottingham with an M.A. in Applied Linguistics. Mark has a keen interest in young learner programs having helped to develop materials for Gangnam public schools. Additionally, he has several years of experience as a corporate English teacher working at companies such as Samsung, LG and SK. This has resulted in a keen interest in the area of business English, and he currently teaches the Hanyang Business TESOL Certification Program.
